Have you seen our replication of a traditional Country Store?

The amazing collection of artifacts in the Country Store allows
visitors to see what life in the early days was like.
All of the exhibits in our replication of a country store have
been loaned or donated to the museum by
residents from the McKenzie County, North Dakota area.

Stop by and look at our extensive collection of memorabilia and
determine whether you would have been able to survive without all
of the modern conveniences we so often take for granted.
It is an eye opener!

A lot has changed in 105 years!

Museum as of June 27th 2019

As you look over the grounds of the property today ,
you can see that there have been may additions to the facility over the last 105 years.
The Log Cabin, The Boy Scout Head Quarters, The Highland Lutheran Church,
The Sheep Herder's Wagon and Cook's Wagon, The Charbonneau One Room School House,
The Novak & Lebak Buildings and of course our Petrified Tree Stumps
which are estimated at 60 million years old.
If you haven't had a chance to visit the museum this season now is your chance.
We will only be open this season until Labor Day.
Our Hours are Mon-Sat 10-5, Sun 12-5 and closed Wednesdays.

This will be a great weekend to visit as we are getting ready for the
Alexander Old Settler's Day celebration and Parade on Aug 30th.
Hope to see you soon.

Honoring Our Elders And Preserving Our Past

The original Alexander school building.

This building was built in 1914 and was used as the school until 1967.
After the school moved to its new location just east of the park here in Alexander a
committee was formed to determine what to do with the old building.
It was determined that the building should be preserved and turned into a museum.
In 1969 the Lewis and Clark Trail Museum was created.
With the support of local McKenzie county residents and settler's from the original settlement
of the community of Alexander, the museum was able to open it's doors on June 29th 1969.
The items you see in the museum have all been donated or loaned to the museum by surrounding
communities and families that want these items to be preserved.
We invite you in to see the amazing artifacts that are on display in our many buildings.
